O! Mankind

The creation of human beings by ALLAH SWT is in full distinctive-diversifications in term of genders, tribes, faculty of mind and intellectual, passions, physical strengthens and other characteristics. The wisdom is so that they may know each other and live in a room of peace and harmony in manifestation the role of ‘khalifatullah’ (the vicegerent of ALLAH) and ‘ibadullah (the servant of ALLAH) in this world. ALLAH SWT clearly stipulated in the Holy Qur’an in Surah al-Hujurat:

“O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know each other (not that you despite each other). Verily the most honoured of you in the sight of God is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And God has full knowledge and well-acquainted (with all things)” [1]

In other verses, ALLAH SWT stressed that:

“Behold, the God said to angels: “I will create a vicegerent on earth” [2]

“I have only created Jinns and men, that they may serve Me”[3]

The first creation of Adam AS and Hawa AS was with a mission to be a care taker of this world. However, there is a natural tendency that they will fight among each other as mentioned in the Holy Qur’an:

“Will you place therein one who will make mischief therein and shed blood”[4]

Hence, ALLAH SWT has provided us with a specific guidance through the prophecy (messenger) since the first Prophet of Adam until the last Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).  To complete the mission of the prophecy, ALLAH SWT provided some of the Prophets with the Holy Book, namely Taurat for Prophet Musa AS, Zabur for Prophet Daud AS, Injil for Prophet Isa AS and al-Qur’an for the last Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

In consensus, all the Prophets were sent down with the mission to lead people to good and pious deeds. Islam is the final religion which reflects a way life and stresses the importance of a vertical relationship between man to God (habluminallah) and also a horizontal relationship between man to man (habluminannas).

The both prescribed relationships are interrelated to each other. It is enacted to every human being to maintain a ‘good and peaceful relationship’ between God and their fellow colleagues.

In a way to accomplish the good and peaceful relationship between man to God, a concept of ‘taqwa’ (God-consciousness) is being a primary centred-point of roles. While for the second relationship, is a concept of ta’awun (mutual assistance), tabarru’ (mutual charity) and taraahum (mutual love).

The above concepts can be treated as a bonding or glue of the relationships. By ‘taqwa’, it will be further strengthening the man-to-God relationship and also to the latter concept as well.

Hence, a practice of Takaful which is based on ta’awun and tabarru’ nowadays is a kick-start leading to a higher social capital in the society.
